Domain Registration Agreement

The rules governing registration, transfer, renewal and registrant rights.

Last updated:

Parties SmartSky acts as an intermediary between you, the registrar and the registry responsible for each extension. Registration is governed by that registry's rules in addition to this agreement.

Domain ownership Registrant details are recorded in your name or your company's name, not SmartSky's. You are the registered holder and have the right to transfer the domain under the rules of the extension.

Accuracy of data - Accurate, current registrant and contact details must be provided. - Inaccurate data may result in suspension under registry rules. - Some extensions — country-code ones in particular — require additional documents or specific eligibility conditions.

Availability and price Availability and price are re-validated before the invoice is created and again before registration. No domain is registered before payment is confirmed. If availability or price changes between search and payment, the new price is presented to you before you proceed.

Renewal - Domains renew in annual or multi-year cycles depending on the extension. - Renewal reminders are sent 30, 15, 7 and 1 day before expiry. - Auto-renew can be enabled and disabled from the client portal.

Expiry and redemption After expiry a domain may enter a grace period, then a redemption period, then deletion, according to each extension's rules. Costs and durations vary by extension, and redemption is normally more expensive than a standard renewal.

Transfers - Inbound transfer requires an EPP code, the domain to be unlocked, and a valid registrant email. - Some extensions do not permit transfer within 60 days of registration or of a previous transfer. - If you wish to transfer away from us, we supply the transfer code and unlock the domain under a documented policy.

Lock and privacy Registrar lock is enabled by default to protect you against unauthorised transfer. Privacy protection is available where the extension supports it.

Abuse Domains used for phishing, malware distribution or unlawful activity are subject to the procedures in the abuse policy, which may include suspension where the registry requires it.
